Acoustic VS Digital ?
Acoustic VS Digital ?
This is an age old question with many answers having been offered many times in the past. Here’s ours.
The question of whether to buy a digital piano or an acoustic piano is as old as the oldest digital piano. Some say that piano should only be played, learned and taught using an acoustic piano. I would agree with this if all acoustic pianos sounded good, felt good and could be played quietly all while being affordable to just about everyone. This is unfortunately not true. No acoustic piano can be played quietly. Many less expensive and poorly manufactured acoustic pianos feel down right bad. Many good acoustic pianos are simply too expensive for many people and prices are said to only rise in the future due to ever decreasing tone wood supplies. Having said that, I’d say that if you didn’t need to play quietly, had enough space and comfortably had the proper budget (at least $4000-$5000) then an acoustic piano would be the most appropriate choice.
However, if you don’t have the space, need or want to play quietly and a budgetary limit then a digital piano makes great sense. After all, if the acoustic piano was the only choice, imagine how many people would be excluded from playing the piano.
So, our final answer to the great debate is simple. If an acoustic piano works for you, your home and your budget we say that this is the best option. If however you are like millions of people around the world for whom a digital piano is the only option we think that we’d much rather see you playing a digital piano then no piano at all.
This is why we created this website. To help you choose which one is best suited to you.
